Chief is a very sweet female cockatiel who can be kind to both male and female humans; however, she has a clear preference for men. As a mature female, she is also a chronic egg layer. She does not have a partner, so none of the eggs will ever hatch. To keep them from cracking or rotting while we wait for her to reach that conclusion on her own, we replace them with weighted dummy eggs, with she boldly protects from any fingers that dare approach her space! She also receives monthly hormone shots to help reduce the frequency and quantity of eggs that she lays.
